Will you be scrambling to make some New Year\u2019s resolutions?<\/p>\n

You\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n

Roughly one in three Americans resolve to better themselves in some way.<\/h2>\n

But did you know that a much smaller percentage of people actually make good on those resolutions?<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be honest, resolutions are fun to make, but very difficult to maintain. In fact, many are long-forgotten as soon as February.<\/p>\n

How can you make 2017 your best year yet?<\/h2>\n

Do you want to live a healthier life? Lose weight? Make more time for you?<\/p>\n

New Year\u2019s Resolution don\u2019t have to be lofty \u2013 even the simplest, everyday things can make a big difference. Try these on for size:<\/p>\n

>> Instead of driving your car, walk or ride your bike more often<\/p>\n

>> Put the cell phone away during work meetings, social events or dinner (make it a family affair)<\/p>\n

>> Make dinner at home 2-3 times a week (you\u2019ll eat healthier and save money)<\/p>\n

>> Skip emailing or texting and just call someone<\/p>\n

>> Pick someone each month to send a handwritten card or note<\/p>\n

>> Do something out of your comfort zone \u2013 like taking a dance or art class<\/p>\n

>> Join a book club<\/p>\n

>> Put away the credit cards and only try to use cash (unless it\u2019s an emergency)<\/p>\n

>> Wake up early and eat a healthy breakfast each morning<\/p>\n

>> Floss your teeth more often (I couldn\u2019t forget this one since I\u2019m a dentist!)<\/p>\n

>> Find a hobby you enjoy<\/p>\n

>> Carve out \u201cfamily time\u201d at least a couple times a week<\/p>\n

>> Start a garden<\/p>\n

>> Tackle the clutter in your home or closet<\/p>\n

>> Make plans for a family vacation and start saving a little each week<\/p>\n

>> Eat more fruits and vegetables (go for fresh over canned whenever possible)<\/p>\n

>> Get out and volunteer — at church, your kid\u2019s school or elsewhere in the community<\/p>\n

>> Pay down debt (credit cards, etc)<\/p>\n

>> Drink more water<\/p>\n

>> Get more sleep (try for at least 7 hours a night)<\/p>\n

>> Find ways to reduce stress<\/p>\n

>> Talk less and listen more<\/p>\n

>> Have more patience<\/p>\n
