Worst Fast Food Dishes (in calories)

Posted on August 28, 2014 by Lake County Dental Care.

We dentists love to warn you about foods and drinks that wreak havoc on teeth. Soda, juice, coffee, alcohol, candy, saltines, ice, the list goes on of edibles and drinkables that don’t take kindly to teeth. This week we’re once again taking a look at unhealthy foods. This time our focus—believe it or not—is not their effect on teeth. Instead, we’re looking at some of the worst fast food dishes in terms of their calories.

5. KFC: Chicken Pot Pie

We’ll start off small: the KFC Chicken Pot Pie, which clocks in at 790 calories. These guys are delicious, but they pack nearly half of your daily serving of calories in one compact pie. To be honest, it’s not entirely KFC’s fault. Many frozen chicken pot pies lag behind KFC’s calorie count only by a little, so keep your eyes open.

4. Taco Bell: Cinnabon Delights

Is it really shocking that combining Taco Bell and Cinnabon franchises results in a high calorie meal? Of course not, but a Cinnabon Delights 12 Pack isn’t really a meal. It’s most likely ordered as a dessert on top of an already filling Taco Bell dinner.  These cute little dessert items add up to a considerable 930 calories!

3. Jack in the Box: Sirloin Swiss & Grilled Onion Burger w/Bacon

Why anybody still goes to this restaurant after the 1993 e. coli fiasco is beyond me. Still, if you do frequent this establishment, try to avoid this 1020 calorie monster of a burger. Remember, the 1020 calories is the burger, NOT the meal.

2. Wendy’s: Dave’s Hot ‘N Juicy™ 3/4 lb. Triple

With an incredible 1120 calories, Dave’s Hot ‘n Juicy 3/4 lb. Triple sure packs a punch and looks delicious. This one titanic burger alone accounts for more than half of your daily calories (2000 being the suggested amount). That being said, at least it’s not a burger from Jack in the Box.

1. Burger King: Ultimate Breakfast Platter

Maybe you’re the kind of person who likes a meal in the morning. Maybe you’re the kind of person who prefers one giant smörgåsbord instead of three meals a day. If you’re this type of person, then check out this BK dish:  3 pancakes, eggs, sausage, a biscuit, and a small order of hash browns. Total: 1420 calories!

Fast food is bad for your health because of its fat, cholesterol, and immense caloric content. But its also terrible for your teeth. Their high sugar and carbohydrate levels mean fast foods provide the raw material for bacteria to create cavities. Remember: oral health and overall health are intimately linked.
