Smiles from the Heart
We love giving back to our community. Smiles from the Heart is one of the ways we get to do this. In this event, we provide free dental care for patients 18 and older who otherwise couldn’t afford dental care. We see patients on a first-come, first-served basis. It’s such a popular event, that we recommend you bring a lawn chair or blankets. We quickly run out of room in the clinic and the line spills outside and down the walkway.
Patients coming to Smiles from the Heart are offered fillings, extractions, and cleanings. We realize not all dental issues can be covered in just one appointment. In those cases, we can refer patients to dental locations that have affordable dental assistance, such as the Lake County Health Department and local dental schools.
Smiles from the Heart—2019
We hosted our 10th annual Smiles From The Heart event on May 31st, 2019. We donated treatment to 33 patients for over $15,000 in free dentistry through the generous support of 21 volunteers!
Smiles from the Heart—2018
We hosted our 9th annual Smiles From The Heart event on September 7th, 2018. We donated treatment to more than 40 patients for over $16,000 in free dentistry.
Smiles from the Heart—2016
We’re thrilled to announce that this year we doubled the amount of people we were able to serve! This is all thanks to our incredible volunteers. We performed more than 104 procedures, and completed a total of 200 volunteer hours worth more than $30,000. We’d call that a success and can’t wait to see what’s possible for the next event!
Smiles from the Heart—2015
This year, over 50 patients were treated to more than $15,000 of free dentistry at the event! Though all of the volunteers were tired by the end of the day, it was very rewarding. The volunteers included: 3 dentists, 3 hygienists, 3 business personnel, 6 assistants, and multiple volunteers from the Libertyville Rotary Club. Leading up to the event we received cash donations, dental supplies, and printing. It is quite fulfilling to give back to the community in this way.
