Dr. Vohra
Dr. Vohra chose a career in dentistry because it perfectly blends her passions for biology and art. Before becoming a dentist, Dr. Vohra was a dental assistant for four years. That experience deepened her appreciation for the science behind oral care, and sparked her interest in both the biological and anatomical aspects of dentistry.
Starting as a dental assistant gave her firsthand insight into the critical role dentistry plays in improving the health and confidence of patients. Dentistry allows her to combine an artistic eye with scientific knowledge in order to make a tangible impact on patients’ lives by enhancing their health while creating aesthetically pleasing outcomes. This unique blend of biology and art is what truly inspired her to pursue dentistry as a career.
What Is Your Treatment Philosophy?
One of my primary goals as a dentist is to save natural teeth whenever possible. I believe in minimal intervention—preserving as much of the tooth as possible while addressing any issues or decay. This philosophy means taking a conservative approach to treatments like fillings or crowns by using techniques that allow for the least amount of tooth structure removal. For me, saving a tooth is about helping patients maintain a natural smile, protect their bite, and avoid more invasive procedures down the road. I believe the relationship between dentist and patient should be built on trust, communication, and mutual respect.
As a dentist, I’m not just a healthcare provider; I’m a partner in the patient’s journey to better oral health. I take the time to listen to their concerns, answer their questions, and ensure they feel comfortable throughout their treatment process. I recognize that each patient is unique, with different needs, fears, and goals, and I tailor my approach to meet them where they are. My goal is always comprehensive, ensuring that my treatment plans are in the best interest of the patient’s overall well-being.
What Motivates You to Come to Work Each Day?
I get to witness, firsthand, how my expertise can change a person’s quality of life. The relief that comes with that is incredibly fulfilling, not just because of the physical outcome, but because of the emotional impact it has on the patient. I am not just relieving pain, but also helping patients regain their confidence in their smile and their health. It’s fulfilling being able to make a lasting difference in someone’s life, whether by saving a tooth or simply offering them a moment of relief from discomfort.
What I find particularly satisfying about dentistry is the immediate, tangible impact I can have on a patient’s life, especially when relieving pain and improving their comfort almost instantly. It’s incredibly rewarding to be able to take someone who is experiencing acute discomfort and provide them with immediate relief. This instant gratification is one of the things that drew me to dentistry in the first place.
