I wanted to get dental implants, but my dentist said I need bone grafting done. I am not crazy about the idea of cadaver bone. My biggest fear is that I will catch something from someone else’s bone. How do I know it is safe?

Jennifer,
I can understand for some people there is a creep factor when thinking about grafting someone else’s bone into their body. However, the procedure is very carefully monitored and safe.
If you’re worried about catching something, you should know there are several procedures to keep that from happening. Before anything happens with the bone, it is tested to make susre it is healthy. After that, It goes through processing and is sterilized.
If you don’t have the grafting procedure, you likely can’t have dental implants done succesfully. If your doctor recommended them, it is because you have a bone deficiency in your jaw bone.
