I had an injury which caused me to lose my tooth and the root. My dentist said it would need to be replaced with a dental implant. It is seriously expensive. Is there no other option?

Yes, there are other options and your dentist should have given them to you even without you asking. In fact, your dentist is ethically obligated to give you all of your options. It is very disturbing that he didn’t.
The option he gave you is a very good one. Dental implants will feel most like your natural teeth. However, if it is too expensive a treatment for you there are other very viable options.
You could get a dental bridge, a removable partial denture, or a dental flipper. All of these could also be temporary procedures for you while you save up for dental implants if you want that treatment.
