I have a dentist who is very good at his job. He’s done my cosmetic work too and always makes my smile look great. The only problem I have is he’s kind of an annoying, arrogant, condescending git. I don’t want to leave his practice, because I know I’ll always have a great smile, which is important in my line of work. So, I’m wondering if it is appropriate to get sedation just to not have to deal with him?

Dear Anonymous,
You can use sedation dentistry for anything that makes you uncomfortable at the dentist’s office. However, I’m going to suggest you don’t. Instead, I want you to look for another dentist.
I know your dentist does a great job for you, but there are other great cosmetic dentists. Ones that won’t make you feel like you need to be asleep to deal with them.
You want a fantastic cosmetic dentist. Contact the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. They can find one you’ll be thrilled with.
